Irwindale Stormwater Control Berm

Description of Project:

Project construction was performed at a fully operational wire manufacturing and storage facility in Irwindale, California. Pride performed remediation of existing controls and installation of new stormwater controls along the drainage perimeter of the site. Construction consisted of mass excavation, fill placement, rough & fine grading of site, installation of 80-mil HDPE liner, concrete stormwater control structures and a riprap spillway.

Scope of Work Performed:

  • Clear and grub work zone
  • Removal of soil from existing earthen berm
  • Over-excavate and re-compact berm keyway
  • Cut/fill site to build new control berm
  • Rough/grade site basin & fine grade berm
  • Subgrade preparations prior liner install
  • Install 80-mil HDPE liner over new berm
  • Excavate and backfill of perimeter liner anchor trenches
  • Form/pour concrete containment wall/curbing
  • Install segregated oversized rocks within new spillway area

Project Successes:

  • Upon project start-up, it was determined that the clients water source could not support water needs of the project. Pride staff established an off-site water source within the same day of determination, whereas the project could continue without project delay.
  • Project was completed on time and within budget
