McKittrick Waste Treatment Site Stormwater Upgrades

Description of Project:

McKittrick Waste Treatment Site is a fully operational waste landfill. Pride assisted the site with the installation of new stormwater drainage features along the southwestern property boundaries. Pride construction efforts included mass excavation and earthwork hauling, cut and fill earthwork operations, install of dual barrel box culverts, riprap channels, concrete cut-off wall, concrete headwalls and installation of crushed miscellaneous base/asphalt paving.

Scope of Work Performed:

• Mass excavation and cut/fill grading operations
• Re-shaping of drainage channels and install of riprap with slurry coating
• Install of two (2) 8-ft. wide by 6-ft. high by 54-ft. long precast dual concrete box culverts
• Construction of 48-ft. long by 9-ft. high concrete headwall
• Form/pour concrete cut-off wall along edge of asphalt pavement
• Install and fine grading of crushed miscellaneous base
• Asphalt paving of roadway, including installation of roadway geotextile
• Install of concrete curbing along edge of roadway

Project Succeses:

• Maintained project schedule while working around onsite operations and other contractors. Pride’s work area was the only access road to the back of the facility, therefore coordination of parties was critical during construction
• Field crew provided client with actual field elevations (varied from plan set) and value engineering ideas to redesign the box culvert alignment and drainage channel tie-ins
• Project was completed ahead of schedule and under budget
