South Gate Hauling & Transfer Station


Description of Project:

South Gate Hauling & Transfer Station is a fully operational waste handling facility. Pride provided installation of stormwater upgrades for the facility. Stormwater upgrades included install of an underground stormwater infiltration and discharge system. The project required mass excavation and grading, install of perforated corrugated metal piping, concrete inlet structures, numerous concrete stormwater control structures and concrete/asphalt reinstall.

Scope of Work Performed:

  • Demolition of existing asphalt and existing features
  • Excavation, load-out and hauling of approx. 2400-CYDS of existing earthwork materials
  • Placement of sand bedding material and install of 850-LF of 66-inch CMP piping
  • Delivery and install of approx. 1850-tons of angular stone
  • Procure and install of 24-inch drain inlet, 36-inch drain inlet, 18-inch and 8-inch PVC piping
  • Procure/set/install diverter and bypass structures, high velocity interceptor/horizontal flow clarifier, junction/confluence structure
  • Install approx. 7500-SF of non-woven geotextile over angular stone
  • Reconstruction of two (2) existing stormwater inlet structures
  • Install of three (3) concrete manholes access points with frames and covers
  • Placement and compaction of class II base and install of new asphalt

Project Successes:

  • Due to the required shut-down of facility operations, Pride completed project in 2.5 weeks
  • Value engineering option provided to WM for reuse of existing materials saved client $5,000
  • Project was completed ahead of schedule and on budget
