El Sobrante Landfill Truck Wash Station

Description of Project:

El Sobrante Landfill located in Corona, California is a fully operational waste landfill facility. Pride constructed a new industrial size concrete heavy hauler truck wash for the site. The project assists trucks with the removal of sediment prior departure from the site, to assist with stormwater quality improvement. Work included cut/fill grading, fine grading, construction of concrete structures, asphalt work and various erosion and sedimentation control features.

Scope of Work Performed:

  • Mass excavation of existing soil stockpile and cut/fill fine grading within limits of truck wash
  • Install of geotextile and aggregate base over subgrade
  • Form/pour approx. 215-ft. long by 30-ft. wide multi chambered concrete truck wash structure, including interior baffle walls approx. 8-ft. high
  • Install of rumble grates within truck wash and 80-ft. long of rumble plates within the entrance and exist locations
  • Install of 4” - 6” HDPE and 2” - 4” PVC piping for the supply and discharge lines
  • Crushed miscellaneous base install
  • Asphalt paving including roadways, speed bumps and curbing

Project Successes:

  • Pride was able to complete the project in 25-working days, whereas the baseline schedule allocated 45-work days
  • Pride provided a value engineering option to the client which saved approx. $15K of cost to the client
  • Project was completed under the original budgeted amount and in half the time allocated for completion
