El Sobrante Stormwater NONA Basins

3/5/2018

Description of Project:

El Sobrante Landfill soil borrow area is a non-active mining facility. Pride provided construction of storm-water ponds and install of storm-water control features. Construction of storm-water ponds included mass excavation and fill placement, in order to build five (5) different holding ponds (Ponds 1A-4A & 2). Pond construction also included discharge piping/dewatering devices. Riprap armor and concrete structures were added as storm-water controls features.

Scope of Work Performed:

  • Demolition of existing hardscape and existing features
  • Excavation, load-out, hauling and certified fill placement within five (5) storm-water holding ponds, totaling more than 50-acres of pond holding areas
  • Install of riprap protection along drainage areas and access ramps
  • Install of concrete Arizona crossings, concrete curb/gutter and v-ditches
  • Construct guard rail to protect basin areas
  • 36-inch & 24-inch CHDPE down-drain piping
  • HDPE discharge piping, anchors and discharge hoses
  • Earthern diversion berm construction throughout site
  • Regrading of primary access

Project Successes:

  • Pride completed the project within half the time outlined on the original engineer’s baseline schedule, due to client’s request. By adding more resources to the project, Pride was able to complete grading operations to gain storm-water capacity before the initial rain event of 2018.
